Chapel of Our Lady of Grace
The Our Lady of Grace chapel was designed by Barry Byrne and completed in 1959. Byrne was the first American to design a Catholic church outside of the United States.
The chapel features a three-manual, 25-rank pipe organ with 27 stops built in 1959 by M. P. M缨ller (Opus 9270). The organ was completely refurbished in 2016 thanks to a generous gift from a late alumni’s estate. Originally, the chapel had a bell tower, however, the tower became structurally damaged and was removed.
For more than 60 years now, the Our Lady of Grace’s Chapel has fostered The Cliff community and supported 51漫画’s mission and values by the dedicated place of worship for Briar Cliff students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community. This small chapel hosts a variety of services, academic and religious ceremonies, music concerts and recitals, as well as other gatherings during the school year.
Sisters of St. Francis Prayer Garden
Adjacent to the chapel is a small prayer garden dedicated to the Sisters of Saint Francis. The garden contains a statue of Saint Francis and Saint Anthony. Students and faculty can be found admiring the flowers and nature throughout the garden. As you enter the courtyard, you will see a plaque with a list of Sisters who have made an impact on the Briar Cliff community.
