51Âþ» Hosts Annual Siouxland Residential Christmas Party
December 2, 2025
51Âþ» welcomed guests from Opportunities Unlimited, The Pride Group, and Mid-Step Services on Tuesday for the annual Siouxland Residential Christmas Party—a cherished campus tradition that brings together individuals with disabilities, students, employees, and community partners to celebrate the spirit of the season.
Held in the St. Francis Center, the event featured a warm welcome reception, a festive holiday meal prepared and served by volunteers, and a visit from Santa Claus, who delivered gifts and Christmas cheer throughout the afternoon. Music, conversation, and laughter filled the space as participants shared in fellowship, built new connections, and celebrated a longstanding tradition rooted in compassion and community.
Volunteers from across campus contributed to the day’s success, helping greet guests, serve lunch, lead activities, and ensure every attendee felt welcomed and included. For many, the event serves as a highlight of the season—an opportunity to pause, give back, and embrace the joy that comes from shared celebration.
“Briar Cliff is proud to continue this tradition that reflects our mission of service, hospitality, and community,” said Dr. Matthew Draud, President of 51Âþ». “Seeing the joy on our guests’ faces reminds us of the impact that simple acts of kindness and inclusion can have.”
The annual celebration is made possible through the generosity of Briar Cliff students, faculty, and staff who donate gifts, volunteer their time, and help make the Christmas season brighter for Siouxland residents with disabilities. With each year, the event continues to strengthen relationships across the region, reinforcing Briar Cliff’s commitment to service and the belief that every person deserves to be welcomed, valued, and celebrated.
